There were over 150 mini food grants awarded this year to teachers all around BC using one of the BC Dairy Association's nutrition education programs! We can’t wait to see teachers' photos and stories about how food is used to help nutrition education come alive in their classrooms. Food is a powerful nutrition education tool! Keep your eye out next August for information about applications for the 2015-2016 school year.

I am so very thankful for the grant this year. I have almost used it up. The children look forward to our "food explorers" time every week. We have had cultural food, fun foods, fast foods, slow cooker foods, etc. It has been a very good experience for the children to smell, taste, see, touch, and handle foods from all aspects of the food pyramid. Today we tried 7 different kinds of veggies. First we smelled them without seeing them and tried to guess what they were. Then we tried it. Some we liked; some we didn't like. It was great! Thanks again. I will be applying for the grant again next year. less

  • Thanks for the grant. Our grade 2 class explored various fruit during our nutrition theme and created edible artwork. Merci - Michel - Whitehorse, Yukon
