Cheese makers from British Columbia to PEI submitted 268 cheeses in 27 different categories in the esteemed Canadian cheese competition. A panel of experts gathered in Montreal for a closed door session on February 21st and 22nd and selected 81 finalists that truly exemplify the world-class calibre of cheese being produced in Canada today. 

Three BC cheesemakers are among the 2015 finalists:

Bella Stella Cheese
  • Formaggino Original 

Natural Pastures Cheese Company

  • Cherry Bocconcini (Grand Prix 2015 winner)
  • Comox Camembert
  • Comox Brie (Grand Prix 2015 winner)
  • Amsterdammer
  • Naturally Smoked Boerenkaas

The Farm House Natural Cheeses

  • Heidi (Grand Prix 2015 winner)
  • Traditional Clothbound Cheddar (aged from 9 months to a year)

  • Traditional Clothbound Cheddar (aged cheddar from 1 to 3 years) 

Winners were announced at the Gala of Champions, in Toronto, on April 22nd, 2015. Congratulations to Natural Pastures Cheese Company and The Farm House Natural Cheeses for winning each in two categories.

About the Cheese Grand Prix:  The Canadian Cheese Grand Prix began in 1998 to promote achievement and innovation in cheese making and to increase appreciation for fine quality Canadian cheese. This nationwide competition honours all categories of Canadian cheeses made from 100% Canadian cow’s milk and certified as such. It is organized and sponsored by Dairy Farmers of Canada.
