Teaching kids how to eat well doesn't have to be complicated. In fact, the simpler, the better. A recent session with grade 10 students at a local high school proved this point yet again. In one hour, our focus was to explore new ideas for packing balanced school lunches. Sounds a bit basic for teens, doesn't it? But get students "cooking" with real food and you'll be amazed at what happens. Pears, tortillas, feta cheese, and white beans - all of the ingredients for a balanced meal - were used during this session. The result: even at this age, the students were excited about simply tasting three different kinds of pears and making tortilla wraps with our own version of hummus.
