Teaching kids how to eat well doesn't have to be complicated. In fact, the simpler, the better. A recent session with grade 10 students at a local high school proved this point yet again. In one hour, our focus was to explore new ideas for packing balanced school lunches. Sounds a bit basic for teens, doesn't it? But get students "cooking" with real food and you'll be amazed at what happens. Pears, tortillas, feta cheese, and white beans - all of the ingredients for a balanced meal - were used during this session. The result: even at this age, the students were excited about simply tasting three different kinds of pears and making tortilla wraps with our own version of hummus. Here's the recipe for our feta and white bean hummus. You can also use it as a delicious veggie dip!
