Mobile Dairy Classroom Experience visits Northern Okanagan School District

The Mobile Dairy Classroom Experience has just returned from a week long adventure to the North Okanagan. From June 9th to June 14th, the Mobile Dairy Classroom trailer visited 10 schools and over 1200 kids. From Armstrong to Salmon Arm, Chase to Kamloops, the Mobile Dairy Classroom Experience was a great hit! The presentations emphasized the importance of milk as a part of a healthy balanced diet and the process in which milk goes from the dairy farm to the family. Equipped with a fully functioning milking machine attached to the trailer, the Mobile Dairy Classroom Experience brought the dairy farm to the playground. The audience were in for a treat as the facilitator milked a dairy cow right before their eyes. Followed by a calf feeding, children and equally curious parents were given the full dairy farm experience. With the help of our dairy cows, the Mobile Dairy Classroom Experience was able to help children create the connection between the dairy produce on the store shelves with local farms.

The Mobile Dairy Classroom Experience would like to thank the local dairy farmers for their support which made the trip possible. The cows were provided courtesy of local dairy farmers and were the stars of the show! The Mobile Dairy Classroom Experience would like to thank The White family of White Grove Dairy for lending Charm and Lucky. The Born Family of Village Ranch for allowing us to use Tara and Glacier Glen. The Shaafsma family of White Creek Dairy and the Lancaster family of Lancaster Family Farm. The cows sparked interest and won the affection of children all across the Northern Okanagan.
