It’s a Jungle Out There! Blazing New Trails for Agriculture.
One of the most popular speakers at the 2012 BC Dairy Industry Conference was Jolene Brown. Jolene shared helpful hints and guidelines for the incredible task of succession planning. As dairy famers across the province and the country are looking to pass their business down to the next generation, succession plannig is a commonly discussed and often terrifying prospect. Jolene shared anecdotal stories and strategies for the family farm to continue successfully. She even tackled difficult topics such as handling in-laws, on-farm job descriptions, and will writing. One thought-provoking question she asked was, “Do you want to be a family-first business, or a business-first family?”
