BURNABY, B.C. – The BC Dairy Association (BCDA) is pleased to announce that after the Association’s annual general meeting on November 30, 2012, the BCDA Board of Directors elected David Taylor as the new Board chair, as it was announced earlier in the day that the previous chair, Dick Klein Geltink, had been elected to the BC Milk Marketing Board.
“I would like to thank Dick for his many years of service and look forward to his continued contributions to the BC dairy industry,” said David Eto, Executive Director & CEO, BC Dairy Association. “David Taylor has been a valuable member of our Board and I have no doubt that he will continue raising the bar for the dairy industry.”
“There are many challenges that face our industry. I will approach these with the diligence that I have applied to my own farm and my own community,” said David Taylor, Chair of the BCDA Board of Directors. “We do many things very well here in Canada, but there is no excuse not to be leaders in the world in all our farming practices. I look forward to helping drive the dairy industry ahead as we strive to further develop our farms and our industry.”
David Taylor farms with his family in the Comox Valley, where they milk 120 registered Holstein cows with a high focus on milk quality and responsible farming. He has been involved with the BC Dairy Foundation for six years before it transitioned into the BC Dairy Association. This past year, he chaired the Marketing and Promotions Committee, was a member of the Finance and Audit Committee and a Director on the Milk West board.
The BCDA would like to also congratulate Louis Schurmann, who was elected by the Board to fill David Taylor’s former position on the Board as Treasurer.
The BC Dairy Association (BCDA) is a not-for-profit organization that represents the B.C. dairy industry, by advancing the business interests of B.C.’s dairy farmers and by raising awareness of the dynamic, economically sustainable nature of the industry, which consistently supplies high-quality products to consumers. The BCDA implements innovative advertising, promotion and nutrition education programs and advocates for producers’ concerns such as the environment, animal welfare, product safety, employee training, trade and regulatory matters.
