The international trade negotiations at the World Trade Organization have major implications for the well-being of Canadian dairy farms. Some of the rules being considered to guide global trade of agricultural products could undermine Canadian dairy farmers’ ability to operate in supply management, putting them at risk of losing the Canadian market to subsidized imports.
