Mobile Dairy Classroom Experience had an “Udderly Fantastic” Time at Cloverdale Exhibition!

The Mobile Dairy Classroom Experience had a blast at Cloverdale Exhibition presenting eight shows and actively engaging the public in conversations about the dairy industry in BC. During the three day event, we connected with over 8000 event goers of all ages.  The Mobile Dairy Classroom Experience brought the dairy farm to children, youth and adults with a fully functioning milking machine.  Each presentation included a live milking and calf feeding demonstration while a presenter explains the importance of quality milk and the dairy industry in BC. The audience were also in for a treat as our facilitators asked for volunteers to put their thumb in the milking machine to demonstrate the equipment is safe for the dairy cows.  Delilah our fibre glass cow was also present at the event and gave individuals a first hand experience milking a cow.  Equipped with a functioning novelty udder and teats hooked up to a pump, individuals could actually milk her!  Delilah was quite a hit as she gave a responsive ‘Moo’ and participants gained bragging rights. The Mobile Dairy Classroom Crew also gave away sleek cow-printed rain ponchos. Members of the public just had to go onto our website and tell us one of the 5 cool facts about cows. The highlight of the event was the opportunity to showcase the different breeds of dairy cows in BC. The Mobile Dairy Classroom Experience would like to thank John Tamis for his support and for providing the 3 dairy cows and 2 calves which made the program a hit with the public. In Jonh’s words the event was “Udderly Fantastic!” Look out for the Mobile Dairy Classroom Experience at events around the community and check out our event calendar at www.dairyclassroom.ca!
