  • 2 tsp (10 g) baking powder
  • 1 tsp (5 g) baking soda
  • 2 tsp (10 g) cinnamon
  • 2 medium eggs
  • 1 tsp (5 mL) vanilla extract
  • 1 cup (200 g) sugar
  • 2 cups (500 mL) Canadian buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup (125 mL) Canadian sour cream

Garnish:

  • A few cubes of Canadian butter
  • 2 cups (400 g) strawberries, halved
  • 1 1/2 cups (375 mL) Real Canadian Whipped Cream
  • Maple syrup, to taste

Directions

  1. Preheat the waffle iron to medium-high and lightly brush it with melted butter.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and cinnamon.
  3. In a separate large bowl, whisk together eggs, vanilla extract, melted butter, and sugar. Add the buttermilk and sour cream, and whisk until well incorporated.
  4. Pour the dry ingredients into the mixture and mix with a spatula until just combined.
  5. Once the waffle iron is heated, brush it again with butter. Add about 1/2 cup (125 mL) of batter to the waffle iron for each waffle, and cook for 5-6 minutes, or until golden brown.
  6. Serve the waffles garnished with cubed butter, strawberries, Canadian whipping cream, and maple syrup.
