Going Camping?

Find out why resealable plastic bags are a must!

Whether you are a seasoned camper or camping for the first time, here’s how to use resealable plastic bags (such as Ziploc® or Glad® freezer bags) to simplify your camping weekend:

  • Snack Packs

Make your own granola bars at home and pack these in smaller bags ahead of time. Take in your backpack for snacks on the trail or by the lake.

  • Dual Purpose Spaghetti Sauce

Making meals at home ahead of time will simplify meal preparation at the campsite. Cook up your family’s spaghetti sauce recipe and freeze flat in large freezer bags. Pack in your camp cooler – it will double as a freezer pack and once it thaws, it will be a convenient meal!

  • Personal Trail Mix

Design your own trail mix by combining your favourite nuts, seeds, dried fruit and cereals (eg. almonds, sunflower seeds, dried apricots, Cheerios). Portion into smaller bags at home and have everyone label their personal packages.

  • Convenient Wallet

Use a medium-sized bag as a compact, waterproof, lightweight, see-through wallet. Great alternative to the bulky, fancy wallet you carry in the city.

  • Camera Case

Keep your camera safe and dry by packing it in a small-sized bag. Especially important when you are hiking in the rain or out on the lake in a canoe!

Make sure you use the durable resealable bags so you can wash and reuse them as many times as possible.
